Hi Everyone!

Welcome to Northern Rose Creations.

Let me just tell you a little about this new journey that I’m on and maybe a lot of you will be able to relate.

I’ve worked since the age of 17, got married young, had my two beautiful kids in my early 20’s and worked well into my 50’s when I suddenly got laid off in 2016.  Well, you could say I felt sad at first, but as time went on I knew deep inside that I DID NOT ever want to work for someone else again.  I bet you’ve had those feelings too, right?

I’ve been very fascinated with graphics since the early 1990’s and taught myself everything I know today through books and online tutorials, so naturally I wanted to do something with graphics.  So in the summer of 2016, I started doing a little graphic design here and there but nothing that I could make a living off of….hell, not even close!

So, my next interest was T-shirts.  That’s when I created Slammin Tees at the end of 2016.  I found some online sites that you could upload your own graphics and they would take care of the rest, meaning I would just sit back and earn commission while they do all the customer service, the printing, the returns, etc.  But of course, it isn’t as easy as it sounds because you would have to advertise to sell and that sometimes would get expensive especially with Facebook Ads.  Again, I certainly did not make a living this way so I’m forever searching for other avenues.  Thank god I have a supportive husband that works so hard to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table.

It got to a point where I just wanted to do T-shirts myself, so in June 2017, I decided to take some of my RRSP money out and buy some equipment.  I did not know ANYTHING about what I was about to do.  No clue!  I just figured I would learn as I go, like everything else.  I’ve always been a ‘trial and error’ kinda gal 🙂

Well I have to say that in the last 8 months or so, I have learned so much!!  I’m forever on Youtube and facebook groups and I’m so grateful to the people who have answered my many questions.  Therefore, I have decided to put Slammin Tees in the background for the time being and start this Northern Rose Creations to focus not only on creating the many things I’ve learned to make, but also to help those people who have many questions like I did, the newbies as I like to call them.  So as I create, I will try and video it and share with you how I go about creating many wonderful things, such as t-shirts, mugs, photo slate, glass etching, license plates and much more!  I’ll be sharing things such as materials used, equipment etc.

Sorry for my first post being so long, but hope you check back often and join me on this awesome adventure 🙂

Spread the love

Rose
